Code of Conduct for Presenters & Staff

1. Purpose

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected of all Mpumalanga TV employees, presenters, freelancers, interns, and contractors. It aims to promote professionalism, integrity, accountability, and respect in all aspects of broadcasting and workplace conduct.


2. Professional Behaviour

All staff and presenters must:

  • Act professionally at all times, on and off air

  • Treat colleagues, guests, and members of the public with respect and dignity

  • Avoid behaviour that may damage the reputation of Mpumalanga TV


3. On-Air Conduct

Presenters and on-air personalities must:

  • Be truthful, accurate, and fair in all broadcasts

  • Avoid offensive language, hate speech, or discriminatory remarks

  • Respect diverse opinions, cultures, languages, and beliefs

  • Not present personal opinions as facts during news or current affairs programs


4. Editorial Responsibility

  • All content must comply with Mpumalanga TV’s Editorial Policy

  • Information must be verified before broadcast

  • Confidential or sensitive information must not be disclosed without authorization


5. Political Neutrality

  • Staff and presenters must remain politically neutral while on duty or on air

  • Personal political views must not influence editorial content

  • During elections, all political coverage must be fair and balanced


6. Social Media & Public Representation

  • Staff and presenters represent Mpumalanga TV in public and online

  • Social media posts must not harm the station’s image or credibility

  • Confidential station matters must not be shared on personal platforms


7. Conflict of Interest

  • Employees must disclose any conflicts of interest

  • Gifts, favours, or payments that may influence editorial decisions are prohibited


8. Workplace Conduct

  • Mpumalanga TV maintains a zero-tolerance policy on harassment, bullying, and discrimination

  • Alcohol or substance abuse during working hours is strictly prohibited

  • All staff must comply with workplace health and safety rules


9. Use of Company Property

  • Equipment and resources must be used responsibly and for official purposes only

  • Damage or loss of equipment must be reported immediately


10. Disciplinary Action

  • Breaches of this Code may result in disciplinary action

  • Serious misconduct may lead to suspension or termination


11. Acknowledgement

All staff, presenters, and contractors are required to read, understand, and comply with this Code of Conduct.
